Peptide Synthesis Technician

We are currently looking for a Peptide Synthesis Technician to work in our peptide synthesis group, to run our high-throughput peptide synthesis platform and support projects in quantitative proteomic. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary environment with experienced biochemists, chemists and computer scientists.  The focus of the position is to produce and characterize labeled peptides to be used as internal standards in quantitative mass spectrometry based proteomic assays. The individual will also participate in other areas of quantitative proteomics, including the development of new technologies, methods and assays for research projects, perform sample analysis for academic and industrial client projects, as well as provide general technical support for other projects at the Proteomics Centre as needed.  



Description of Duties:

  • Synthesis of peptide standards using a high-throughput peptide synthesis robot

  • Analysis of peptide standards using mass spectrometry, amino acid analysis (AAA) and capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE)

  • Peptide purification using HPLC

  • Process optimization for the peptide synthesis pipeline

  • Sample preparation for technology development and client projects in quantitative proteomics

  • Run specified HPLC/MS analysis on peptides, proteins and other biological samples

  • Spot HPLC fractions onto MALDI plate for analysis

  • Use excel and other software tools to create reports for quality of peptide standards

  • Other general lab duties as required



  • BSc. or higher in biochemistry, chemistry or a related science

  • Minimum of 2+ years of applicable lab experience required

  • Experience in scientific workflows

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other general software tools
