About the Center

The University of Victoria Proteomics Centre has been in
operation since 2001. It grew from the University of Victoria
Protein Chemistry facility under the direction of Dr. Robert
Olafson and is the longest operational protein core facility
in Canada, providing protein analytical services to Canadian
and international, academic, industrial and government laboratories.
Supported by collaborative relationships with Genome BC and
Genome Prairie, our mandate is to offer investigators the
highest quality protein analytical services in the shortest
period of time. Based upon a cost recovery financing model,
the Proteomics Centre provides full high-throughput proteomics
services including 2D gel electrophoresis, MALDI-TOF mass
spectrometry and peptide mass mapping, 2D-LC MS/MS peptide
sequencing, iTRAQ protein expression analysis, conventional
Edman protein microsequence analysis, robotic 2D gel processing
and documentation, protein database searching and an array
of other computer-based analytical services including antigenic
epitope prediction.
